Sputniks were a popular light-up addition to signage on businesses in the Mid Century. They had cool conical arms with lightbulbs on the ends and smaller bulbs decorating the sphere. They took their design from the space age style of the time, inspired by the pioneering achievement of the Soviet Union's launch of the world's first artificial satellite in 1957. They are so retro cool!
